Artist's Comments

I'm not a "religious" person -- in the sense of following any of the major government-approved cults -- but shouldn't there be a "spiritual" category in the galleries?

No pencils; this was a freehand ink, scanned, with light gradient and a border dropped in from Photoshop.

Just... wow. And freehand to boot.

I have always loved Kali. The dark Goddesses have always called. Perhaps being named after the Queen of Hell (Kore) might have something to do with it.

We don't choose our Goddesses. I asked for a break from her once -- and for a year I got Sedna.

Teach me to complain.

That's true. I always seem to get Frigg and Skadi. No matter WHOM I ask for.

A friend is stuck with The Great White Sow Who Eats Her Young.

We should count our blessings. Literally.

Oh yes, completely.

Of course, when it comes to Gods, it's even worse. I swear hubby has Loki. Me, I got the red-headed frat boy and his one-eyed drinking buddy.

Who are complaining loudly about the lack of mead.

Nice work! Interesting, usually Kali is associated with destruction!

If we can't laugh, then our enemies win!
:iconrummelhart:
No, in India she is the Black Mother; she is the force of creation as well as destruction.

It is always embarrassing to see the Indiana Jones series, and the portrayal of her as a monster fighting Shiva -- when Shiva is her beloved consort.
